About the Show

The McGuire Detective Agency is based in the 1920's created by great friends, this has some commedy and some serious parts but its all in jest as someone said we couldn't do it!

From the Producer

My favorite question is where did the McGuire Detective Agency come from and where did you think it up from? I have many answers for that but none come to mind, so I suppose a bit of history on how this project started may give you some idea.

I had an idea to create an old style radio show, just for a laugh, and as always the most rediculas idea usually snowballs into somthing overwhelming, but I needed to find out if it was fesable to do, now came one thing that most of the MCT dont like to do, but I flourish in this department... RESEARCH

So of course, the best option for research, I checked out the local Library, situated in Wellington Central here in New Zealand.

Now to me a libraray is a library is a library, but not when I walked into this one, quite impressive I do say, there was anything and everything I wanted or needed for the subject on radio shows, and a latte to boot in the cafe in the Library!

We checked out the audio section and found some old time radio, like the Goon Show all the way to the B.B.C. presentations of The Hobbit and even Agatha Christie on cassette. After finding all this and the possabilitys I could see with the MDA, the domino effect took off from there.

From there I approached a good friend Mark Wild about the project, armed with only an idea and some cassette tapes. It took a while before he showed any interest in the idea (about six seconds) and before I knew it we were planning who got killed and how also how often they got killed (trust me you had to be there)

One problem was the script, Mark was quite admient from the start that he dosent do scripts, but can help with most other aspects of the play, and again my mind started working overtime again, who do I know and what can we do?

In walks the answers to my nightmare! Lewis Stoddart, and Alastair Ross.Lewis had done 3 years at film school and Alastair was on his own crusade of short film creations, both had alot of experience writing scripts, so when I invited them to join in the aspectof creating a radio show, they were in boots and all, I suppose this is when the M.C.T. officially began.

Origionally we tried to write the script as a team, but found this not to be fruitful, so I then took on the challenge to create the first script, this took about a week to do in my spare time. once this was completed it was then put to the others for editing and re writes. After alot of deliberation, coffee, ciggarettes, fun and laughter, between the four of us, we created the first instalment of the MDA completed, "The Final Act". Also there are two more in the pipeline expected to be finnished soon, and if you want to know about those you have to keep you eyes and connections fixed right here

Thats the basic background to the MDA.

And thanks to an unofficial member of the M.C.T. which is Mark Yoshimoto Nemcoff, thanks to him we got the inspiration to mix this down and put this up here at Podshow.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I have creating it!
